We're Hiring - Director

Title: Director

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Reports to: Associate Vice President



The Director's primary role is to lead and manage the successful delivery of our client’s (Sobeys) programs and solutions. This role includes the planning, execution and measurement of seasonal brand campaigns, community investment projects as well as Employee Engagement programs and events.

The Director role includes accountability for budget management and profitability, as well as realizing opportunities for new business growth. The Director is a successful people manager able to resource plan, delegate, and inspire the delivery of great work from a team of direct reports. The incumbent in this role is seen by others as a leader and can represent XMC at industry events. As an XMC team member, the Director demonstrates collaboration, strives for excellence, and always looks to better the agency and improve effectiveness overall.



Program leadership for client satisfaction. Profit targets met for client programs of significant size including planning, project management, execution, and measurement.


Managing and leading an engaged team of direct reports or project-based resources. Delegating to direct reports for successful execution as well as challenging career growth opportunities. Coaching others for performance and leading for results.

Business & Strategic Development Organic Growth: Building and nurturing healthy client relationships resulting in organic growth. Owner of client strategy and program planning.

Net New Business: Identifying and proposing new business opportunities for net new client opportunities.

Ownership of the client(s) relationship. Independently manage and build client relationships of trust. Brings new ideas and clients together in new ways for new business development.

Account Profitability/Financial Ownership

Approval of all program budgets. Responsible for ensuring that account team is supporting on reconciliation of each program and that invoices are sent out on time.

Plays a supporting role in developing financial targets for respective accounts/clients each year.

Significant contributor to and owner of client strategy and/or program plan(s) including developing innovative and client-specific ideas and programs.

XMC Morale Overall XMC team contribution in order to move the overall business forward including sharing ideas, enabling the success of others, and finding opportunities for continuous improvement both for the company as well for account team members.


  • Related university degree, college diploma or equivalent industry experience

  • Significant marketing industry experience. (10+ years.)

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to establish and grow trusted relationships

  • Project and program management experience

  • Team leader with ability to motivate and inspire

  • Is results-focused: Demonstrates tenacity and dedication to achieving goals

  • Can be counted on for effective and capable leadership under pressure
